2024-11-18 Livable Lynchburg Meeting Notes

Andrew: Peaks-to-Creek trail is fully funded. Even though it doesn’t connect with rest of system, it is good

Nathan: bike pumps, find project/cleanup for next 1st Saturday.

Nathan says he should be fine for 1st Saturday.

Christian has been reading the Strong Towns book and is still learning about the things.

Nathan explains Lynchburg Road issues

Nathan says Peaks-to-Creeks trail is fully funded. Andrew says the director of Parks&Rec said that funding is secured.

Andrew: There was a preexisting trail that wasn’t paved

Nathan: Trail wasn’t paved, I walked there a few years sago

We look at the satellite view. It will be at least two years before construction begins.

We briefly discussed the closure near Hollins Mill Road.

Fiona has checked the connection by Kemper St trail. Connecting it to 3rd st would be amazing.

Andrew says there is a powerline there so it might be even easier to build such a connection.

The bike pump in the awareness garden and the one by the LOVE sign downtown are both working now.

We now have to find a good project for December 7.

Andrew: There used to be a tunnel under Park/Fort for trains. It got filled in.

Nathan: There is no good way to cross Fort/Park at at Fort/Park/Kemper St. The idea is that we cut a path through the woods to make it easier. This is a possibility for a project.

Fiona: Do we need gravel? Would the trail work without the gravel?
